Music For The Hot Tub

Have you ever noticed how quickly music can change your mood? A soothing song or playlist can turn a demanding day into a peaceful evening. Adding a sound system to your hot tub, along with spa mood lighting, can help you feel completely relaxed during an evening soak.

A previous blog post, A Relaxing Instrumental Music Playlist for the Hot Tub, prompted fans to answer the question of what songs have soothing effects on them and other people. Turning to Caldera's Facebook page, fans weighed in on their favorites. I added a few of my own go-to tunes to their suggestions and created the perfect playlist. Listen in while enjoying a quiet backyard family dinner or while soaking solo in your hot tub.

  1. Home - Michael Bublé
  2. Lullaby - Priscilla Ahn
  3. Living In Twilight - The Weepies
  4. Breathe - Bliss
  5. Coldplay - Strawberry Swing
  6. The A Team - Ed Sheeran
  7. Such Great Heights - Iron And Wine
  8. Ísjaki - Sigur Rós
  9. Unplayed Piano - Damien Rice
  10. Heartbeats - Jose Gonzalez

Music has the power the help lull one to sleep or wake up the brain. Daniel Levitin, Ph.D., a psychology professor at McGill University, and the author of “This Is Your Brain on Music,” told Menshealth.com that a music beat triggers a brain process called spreading activation, “when a bunch of neurons start firing at a certain rate, say in response to music, and other neurons that have nothing to do with music start firing in sympathy." This is particularly useful in the morning to help wake the brain up for the day, or in the mid-afternoon when you need a quick boost of energy. In addition to waking up the brain, music acts like medicine to the body. The Men's Health article cites a review in the American Journal of Public Health that calls music “the most accessible and most researched medium of art and healing.” From controlling pain in cancer patients to slowing heart and respiratory rates in heart-attack patients, music brings benefits to the body beyond basic entertainment. As you settle in for a morning or evening soak consider adding music to your hot tub routine, and enjoy the added health benefits good tunes bring to the body.
