Palatino Reviews

Palatino is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 87.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from frustrated I have owned my hottub since December when it was delivered. It is very powerful and enjoyable. However my electric bill went up 200 dollars each month in January February and March. That was a bit shocking. I drained the tub last week as instructed as periodic maintenance from my sales rep Rich. (He is excellent and helpful with his advice and interest in my satisfaction.) after refilling tub I discover it keeps triggering breaker and is unuseable. I am seeking the assitance of the service dept of Alpin Haus. They think its the heater so are going to come out and replace it under warranty on Monday. I had no idea my electricity bill would increase that much. Apparently the tub isnt quite as efficient and insulated as I was led to believe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Caldera spa Love the spa except for some quality issues with the LED lighting system and the failure of some of the aquassage jets and temperature control systems.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to get in , hard to get out We use our hot tub at least 3 times a week. It does not take much convincing to get in ,but, then we never want to get out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Initial Quality problems resolved with new spa. Our initial spa had issues. After having it installed by an experienced electrician the spa would overheat with temps up to 110 degrees. The company that sold us the spa worked on it several times with Caldera on the phone. Come to find out there were many parts missing and incorrectly installed from the factory. Once this was discovered Caldera made the decision to just replace the complete spa and the one we received afterwards has worked great. Not sure the Spa Frog is effective as I have to add chemicals every week to keep the water balanced but other wise it has been good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from HOT TUBBING IN CT We are a family of 6 and enjoy the spa year-round at least once a week. It's a good time to relax and talk to each other about everything that's going on with everyone. No cell phones, emails, texts, etc. Also- you haven't lived until you do a hot-tub snow angel. (jump out of the hot tub, do a snow angel, hop back in tub) Invigorating to the 10th power!! WhooHoo!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall happy--a few problems We had to have a sensor replaced when the spa was brand new--it was not keeping the water at the right temperature. Now that it's replaced, it seems to be working fine. (The installers thought we were wrong--not Calderas fault--and I had to insist they make a repair--but we've had a spa for so long that I knew immediately that the temp of the water was not what the readout said it was. In a spa, 1 degree makes a difference--A new user might not have realized something was wrong). I'm a bit biased because my previous spa was also a Caldera, but a top of the line model, so this one is not quite as nice. But overall considering the difference in price, I'm happy with the variety of jets and seating positions. We enjoy the lights and "waterfall." I also like the way the lift and cover are attached and how they work. I did not like the "Spa Frog" thing for chemicals and have stopped using it. I've just gone back to checking and adding chemicals myself--which I've done for so long it's no big deal (and much cheaper).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My 2nd Spa My only negative comment is that Entering & Exiting the Spa could use design improvement. There is really no flat surface to step onto in the spa, so it may be slippery.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Happy except for the lounge seat We really like our Caldera Hot Tub and very happy we purchased. One items we wish we would have explored more is the lounge seat. Lounge seat is not universal. It is better suited for an average male. My husband did not want the lounge seat and I pushed for it because in a previous hot tub I used it all the time. This lounge seat is deep and I feel like I have to sit on my legs to be at the right height. I am 5'7" so pretty average female size. The size of the tub is really nice feels comfortable with 4 adults in the hot tub. We are happy with the color schemes offered as well it goes really well with all our earth tones on our patio.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Palatino spa I really like my tub.. I use it 3-5 times a week and it is an easy care unit. I would recommend this tub as a purchase. I am not as impressed with the service I received when it had an issue. It had a leak with one of the valves and it needed to be replaced. My tub was down for 3-4 weeks waiting on the part from Caldera (at least that is what my service guy said). I have had the tub for little over a year but was a little disappointed when it started leaking.. since the valve replacement it has been fine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great spa horrible buying expierence We had the worst buying experience buying this spa, it arrived damaged then they set it up and damaged the cover it took the manufacturer getting involved to even get it replaced - the sow itself is really nice and we are happy with it so far

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Palatino, overall a good purchase. As the cold weather arrived the up-keep of the water became a problem. The water color and a strong smell when you uncovered it. Checking with test kit daily and adjusting the chemicals was a must. Was bringing a sample in almost weekly.I had a large inground pool 16-32 8ft. deep.Taking care of that was never a problem. The winter season the electrical cost tripled. I tried all different ways, from lowering the temp at night, sleeper mode, to keeping it set at 100 degrees all the time. Cleaning the hot tub every three months is a must. Even during the winter months.a challenge in the north-east. My family does enjoy it,

Rated 1 out of 5 by from More expensive than I thought. When my wife and I bought the the Caldera Palatno we though we would be spending more on electricity to run the unit that fixing the problems. Over the course of 3.5 years we have replaced 3 2-speed motors and the heater. Currently we are not able to use the spa because of a possible problem with the pressure switch. I would not recommend Caldera spas to anyone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not too happy I had a Caldera Spa for 20 years and had a great experience before this spa. So I wanted to replace it with a Caldera Spa. This new spa is not as good. The spa does not clean itself well, the ozoneator never seemed to do it's job and it requires chemicals all the time Either the water or the cover has an odder that is not pleasant or inviting. Overall the quality is not anywhere near what I expected.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Extremely Disappointed I am totally disappointed with the quality of the cabinet on our new Caldera Vacanza Palatino Spa. After having a IHT Hot Springs Spa for several years and having to completely remove the redwood siding twice to remove rodent damage and droppings, I was done with having a hot tub in our rural location. However, as my wife and I walked though our local Costco Warehouse on Sunday, March 17th, 2013, the spa display caught our attention. I talked with the salesperson and expressed my concern about keeping mice and rodents out and our previous experiences. I was assured that "These new spas are totally sealed" and mice and rodents are no longer a problem. Our spa was finally delivered Friday, April 26, 2013. Somewhat longer than the two to three weeks it was initially promised but we remained patient thoughout the process. The three guys that delivered it were great. They were much more customer service oriented than the commission hungry salesman. They set it up and explained everything in a professional manner. Later that evening, I decided to check the spa's construction. I used a telescoping mirror that I have used for years doing automotive mechanical work. I was shocked to discover the underside of the cabinet beneath the polymer siding is basically "Raw Wood." I counted at least four 1/2" openings or gaps just waiting for a mouse to crawl inside and begin destroying the insulation. In addition to the openings, there are 1/8" to almost 1/4" gaps in the wood. None of these are caulked and painted. There is some black paint on the base but the area directly behind the bottom of the siding is totally raw exposed wood. This is one of those rare moments when I wish I had not paid cash, almost $6,800.00 with taxes, for an item because now I have no recourse. This is not an item worthy of that kind of price with this level of or lack thereof of quality. We have not even filled it and used it yet because I will have to basically rebuild the bottom of the cabinet before we can use it. I know if I fill it and begin using it without fixing the obvious manufacturing defects, the mice will come and the wood will rot. I doubt it would last two years without repairing the base of the cabinet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Hot Tub This was our first hot tub and it has performed to our expectations. It's roomy enough and has enough options for jets and lights to enjoy. Quality seems to be good and still looking like new. Dealer was helpfull with any questions and provided discounts on future chemical purchases.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Time Spa Owner We've had our Palatino spa now for almost a year and we couldn't be happier with it. Even though it could easily seat 5-6 people, we rarely have more than the two of us. I enjoy the extra room and the extra jets on this spa. Owning a spa has improved our physical and mental health. There's nothing like being in a spa at night with your wife and watching shooting stars overhead. We should have purchased one years ago. We use our spa 3-4 times per week all year round. It's easy to maintain and well worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best purchase I've made since a pickup truck Even in the Arizona summer heat, relaxing at night in the spa is wonderful, just turn the temp down and the spa is actually cooler than the air temp but you still get the relaxed feeling of the water jets. In the winter the 102 water temp is perfect for those 40 degree nights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome hot tub Awesome hot tub. We use it at least 4 times per week, if not more. We have had our Palitino for almost a month. We knew we would use it and enjoy it, but never guessed we would love it as much as we do. Not only do we love our hot tub we love the service we get from Wanda at Sweetwater.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Time Hot Tub Owner This was our first hot tub and it has exceeded our expectations. We use it almost daily. I'm glad we purchased the Palatino with the extra massage jets. The water circulation is outstanding. The filter is easy to clean and the unit drains easily when it is necessary to replace the water. We really like single-user cover to get in and out of the tub. Balancing the chemicals was a little tricky at first but now is routine. We've owned the unit for 8 months and the it has performed flawlessly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good decision My wife and I really procrastinated about the purchase of a spa. We looked at competition and felt Caldera was a very good value for money. Our spa has completed our back yard retreat. We enjoy it every day. It has been very relaxing and theraputic. A very good alternative to an expensive pool. Don't hesitate, jump in and relax!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the foot massage! Our spa has been everything we had hoped for. The foot massage feature is great. Our granddaughters love the waterfall. The water temperature never falls below where we set it, and gets only a few degrees warmer on a very hot day. We were surprised at the minimal impact on our electric bill - it's a very efficient spa. Only drawback: a few more jets would have been nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great spa for the price! I've owned the Palatino for a couple years now and have enjoyed it tremedously. I've had a tech out only once due to a bad breaker in my outdoor panel that kept blowing on extremely hot days in the summer. Other than that, the hot tub has functioned smoothly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So happy we purchased this spa! For years my husband and I wanted a spa...and now that we finally own a Calera, we don't know why we waited so long! We enjoy the spa in all kinds of weather, especially when it's snowing! It is like always being on vacation...but in your own back yard!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 14 Months in a Caldera Spa We purchased our Caldera Spa May 2010 and never cease to enjoy it. Especially like the "Frog " feature as maintaining proper chemical balance is easy . The base made of imitation wood does not weather as happened with the previous wooden base spa we owned . The vynl cover is very easy to keep clear. We are proud of our Caldera Spa!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Care of Spa I've had my Palatino for about a year. I still have not changed the water and the water still look crystal clear. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Palatino very relaxing bought 9 months ago. Use daily. Spa has been excellent. Here are a couple small items. Electrical connect was $1k. Not cheap. Installer never gave me keys to the cover. Not a big deal. Hot tub cover has gotten heavier over time. Biggest complaint against all hot tubs. Wouldn't it be great if there were one big power ful jet in at least one corner to do a deep massage of middle back or neck. Who cares about having lots of small jets that don't penetrate into the muscle tissue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very happy We are very happy with our Palatino. Operates very well and is easy to maintain once you get the chemical frequency/quantities figured out. Things that would improve this model include; better design to accommodate drinks/cups and maybe adding arm rests with jets in one of the corner seats which my wife misses from a previous tub we owned.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from New Spa Owner We were new to owning a spa two years ago. This was a great first time purchase. The spa is comfortable, stays clean, and one you learn the chemicals, easy to maintain. The spa uses much more electricity than we were told. Changing the water could be made easier and put in a pump rather than gravity feed. The access door is temperamental and the screws don't always work right. Connecting the power was fussy and could be engineered better. We have had NO leaks or equipment failures at all. The only thing we had to replace was the screws for the headrests as some of them rusted. Once replaced there have been zero problems. We worked with the factory who was great: our dealer gave us hassles. I would buy another Caldera in a heartbeat and they would be my baseline comparison if I look at other models.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Palatino One of the best decisions we have made. Excellent quality built to last. Very easy to program, and I especially like the Eco-Mode to save electricity. It is a very comfortable tub with spacious seating. The maintenance is much easier than our old tub, I simply spray out the filter monthly and the frog cartridge system keeps the water clean and balanced. The Palatino may cost a bit more than other tubs on the market but from my experience with our old "cheap" tub it is well worth the few extra dollars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Who needs to go on vacation? I feel that I have a vacation waiting for me in my back yard every day. We used our spa all year round. I was able to go outside and enjoy the sun in March this year. While I still love visiting the Carribean,I don't crave it as much because I can relax in my very own paradise. I am also able to find relief from my fibromyalgia. It is so wonderful to have luxurious heated water available in an instant when I am in bone chilling pain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wish I bought it sooner I've had my spa for almost a year now and still use it twice a day, I had a pool for years and it was always a hassle doing the chemicals and getting it right, not so with the spa. I spend a couple minutes a week and I'm done, the water is always clear. I originally purchased the spa to help with my bad back and it does wonders, the whole family enjoys it. Best purchase I ever made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what we wanted Waited to get another hot tub since we wanted a a larger one than before with more features. I did my research, and believe this Caldera Palatino was exactly the right choice for our needs. So far, two months in, it is wonderful. Easy care, great comfort, and multiple seating options for when our grandkids come over. The installation was done with great care, working with our contractor to assure everything was as needed for the day of delivery. We are in it most nights. As aging people, the value of a good soak for incipient arthritis, and general aches and pains, is better than medicine. Plus, it's time for us to just connect, talk, view the stars and have that important quality time all couples need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pain reliever I have three different health issues that cause near constant pain on some level. I have wanted a hot tub for years and was finally able to get one this past fall. My Palatino brings me so much pain relief, more than I had hoped for. I couldn't be happier with my decision to buy a Caldera. A big concern of mine was energy efficiency. Having purchased the tub later in the fall I was immediately able to find out how efficient it was, we hardly notice a difference on the electric bill. Water maintenance has also been simple, after the initial issues with the acidity of my well water were worked out it has become very predictable and takes less than 5 minutes a week to maintain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hidden feature I like really hot water. From my comparison shopping, this meant Hot Springs and Caldera spas. The Vacanza series controls, and the instruction booklet, do not show the spas ability to be turned up to 106-but it does! Good, strong jets, great spa lift (Pro lift 2), nice looking, easy care. Get a cover lifter-a must. The only thing I don't prefer is the "bucket seat" design. But the 106 water is worth it. The waterfall feature is cute but noisy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tampa Bay Hot Tubs is the Best First of all I dealt with Tampa Bay Hot Tubs and Jerry was the best. Throughout the entire process of research, purchase and delivery, he walked us through step by step. Delivery was on time and very professional. The area we were putting the hot tub was a screened enclosure. Jerry and his team found out it was easier not to go through the door so they removed a section of the screen and replaced it perfectly with no extra cost. We previously had a Thermospa but it was frustrating trying to get knowledgeable technicians to work on it as it got older. Jerry explained the ease of the Caldera automatic chemical distribution process and the spas is so easy to keep clean and fresh. We have had the spa about 6 months now and love it more each day. Thank you Jerry !!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Spa!!! We have owned our spa for 8 months. Our family of 5 loves it! The maintenance of the water care is easy even our children can help with it. We have followed all of the instructions for caring for the cover, waxing the interior of the spa when we recently refilled it with fresh water, and chemical use. I would recommend this spa to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Changed our Lifestyle We chose to purchase our hot tub versus a pool. It was honestly one of the best choices that my wife and I have made. We have found that our lives have changed to include more relaxation time because of the hot tub. In fact, we recently moved and the hot tub came with us. I would strongly encourage a Caldera Spa because of the price, functionality, and ease of use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We love our hot tub We've had our hot tub for a year now. We love it! I wouldn't own any other brand. No problems with it at all. It looks the same as when we purchased it. Easy to clean and easy to take care of. I would purchase it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Relax and enjoy and enjoy and enjoy... Get away from computer, cell phone and everything else that is sucking the energy out of you. Just you and mother nature and a hot tub massage...especially on a moonlit night...bravo! Bonus 1: Quality time with your teenage kids. Yes they can talk without texting and happily share their thoughts and dreams. Bonus 2: Hot tub snow angels. WhooHooo! Way more challenging than an ice bucket. You can't feel more alive than after a hot tub / snow angel / hot tub.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Part of the Family!!!! Our hot tub is a family member! Everyone loves it, we use it every day, and we've had 2 first dates in the hot tub turn into engagements! Thank you so much. Our spa is like brand new after 3 years. So easy to care for and big enough for 6! Our friends that sold us our spa are wonderful: Covenant Industries. Tom R. Louisville KY.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tub I LOVE my Caldera spa. It does use a little more electricity then expected but worth every penny. My only regret is not buying one years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Therapeutic The best thing I did in 2018 is to purchase my new spa. I had and older jacuzzi model and wow what a difference in spas like night and day. I have a very stressful day and after I spend sometime in my spa it makes the day more bearable and I sleep like a baby. I didn’t purchase the highest end spa but it is heads above other units in the same price range. I would do it again!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We should have done it sooner My husband and I are pretty active. Between skiing, hiking, motorcycling, and every day life our bodies get pretty beat up. We have been wanting a hot tub for years and finally made the investment in our Caldrea Spa. We should have done it sooner. We love our Spa and use it at least 3 times a week if not more especially in the winter. We did our research and the Caldrea spa had the best reviews out of all the ones we looked at. Highly recommended, very easy to use and maintain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best spa experiance ever In the last 28 years I have owned a spa. My Caldera Spa experience is by far the best I have ever had. The methodical lay out of the jets and the seating is just great! I cannot recommend any higher Caldera Spa. I am very, very happy. My local dealer, Robert, was incredible and very helpful in answering all of my questions and installing my spa.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best purchase ever!! We love our spa! Every night it takes away the stresses from the day but it also helps my husband back feel more relief and I just had a total knee replacement and what a difference after spending 1/2 hour soaking! We definetly sleep better! We have had other spas but this is the easiest to take care of!! Love my Caldera spa!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Palatino spa Got our spa yesterday and was in for the first time last night. We'd been spa owners before and our old one lasted for 14 years so I'm pretty knowledgeable. We visited 3 different dealers and looked at multiple manufacturers before making the selection of a Caldera Palatino spa. The dealer (Don) at Clearwater spas was very helpful during our visit and spent a lot of time answering our questions. He made sure that we knew what to expect regarding the installation and everything went smoothly. My wife likes the features and the placement of the jets - especially the foot massage jets.
